Hi, this is my first post in this forum and I hope you can help me with my problem.
I just got a 'HAMA AA25' USB to IDE/PATA & SATA combo interface and wanted to use it with my Linux Mint installation:

Problem: IDE drives work fine with it, no complaint there. I have another interface for IDE only which also works fine, and another one for SATA only (USB 3.0 compatible) which works fine as well. What doesn't work with the JMicron device are SATA drives.
Maybe I see where the problem is: My system recognizes the device as just an 'ATA/ATAPI Bridge' and doesn't 'see' that it supports SATA drives also.
I read in the following thread about a workaround which I cannot get to work unfortunately (and I wasn't able to re-use the thread for my problem since it is closed now): https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=966321&page=2

I can rule out any problems caused by faulty drives or their partitions, and also those caused by a faulty power supply.

We are not a review site. Your answer was Not on Windows This includes asking for us to link to your subreddit, forum, bulletin board, newsgroup, Facebook page, whatever. Right clicking on My computer and using the disk manager worked. I had the same problem. This means they have proven with consistent participation and solid troubleshooting their knowledge in the IT field. We tried to use the HDD externally , as we cannot access the contents of the HDD with Windows 10, despite taking ownership of it, and changing the permissions for the various files and folders contained within, hence our taking it out, and buying an adapter to try and read it that way.

Good luck and post again if the drive still has issues after trying another connection. I can not access the files on the hard-drive.
My friend managed to figure out what to do in the end. If you already had bridgd on it beforehand, I don’t know whether you would actually need to use the Disk Manager in the first place though!

I don’t really understand usb ata atapi bridge difference, I’m afraid. EmmettFitzsimmons replied on March 8, Also, it might be related: The same circumstances apply, in bride the drive is not shown, but has been recognised as being plugged in and shows in Device Manager.
